FEMA's Toxic Trailers; Lead Plaintiff Dies of Lung Cancer

At a hearing this morning of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, investigators released internal e-mails indicating FEMA lawyers rejected environmental testing fearing the agency would become legally liable if health problems emerged among the 120,000 families that have resided in the trailers.

FEMA supressed warnings that suspected health problems were related to excessive levels of formaldehyde gas released in trailers that FEMA provided to families displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
